How to mow your lawn properly
To achieve a beautiful, green lawn, you need to mow your lawn at regular intervals throughout the year. It’s also important to choose a lawn suited to the use and exposure of the site. In this blog, we’ll show you how to mow your lawn properly.
Why mow your lawn?
Mowing helps to increase lawn density: the more frequent the mowing, the greater the density. This cultivation practice also helps strengthen the plant and root system deep down. Mowing also prevents moss and weeds from invading your lawn.
How often should I mow my lawn?
It’s best to mow your lawn once a week from mid-May to September, then twice a month at the end of the season. As winter approaches, it’s advisable to mow shorter, down to 3 cm for example, and to collect dead leaves.
How high should you mow your lawn?
In spring and autumn, mow to 3″ (8 cm). The first and last mowings should be very short (at least). During hot, dry spells, we recommend mowing at 4 inches (10 cm) to help the soil retain its moisture.

Is it okay to leave grass clippings after mowing?
Grass clippings are a natural fertilizer. We recommend that you leave grass clippings to reduce water requirements, provide the plant with organic matter and improve mineral retention in the soil. For grasscycling, make sure you have shredding blades.
What bad mowing practices should be avoided?
To avoid injuring the lawn and slowing down its development, please sharpen the blades of your mower. Never mow more than a third of the way up the lawn, otherwise you’ll stress it. Avoid cutting wet lawns and mowing less than 24 hours after fertilization and weed control.
